Gayton-le-Wold and Grimblethorpe

Gayton-le-Wold and Grimblethorpe Villages

Gayton-le-Wold, which includes Grimblethorpe, is a small hamlet 6 miles west of Louth just off the A157. It is very rural and mostly agricultural with a small population of around 20 people. The agricultural area is appreciated by ramblers who enjoy the views across the Wolds and the beautiful countryside. There are no amenities but the church is an important part of the small community.

St. Peter’s Church, Gayton-le-Wold

The small church of Saint Peter’s has seating for around 50 people. It was restored in 1888 when a west porch was added. The building is in good repair and the churchyard is kept tidy by local volunteers.

There are usually 4 or 5 services a year including Harvest and Christmas and recent years have seen a popular Snowdrop Festival weekend in February.  The church is always open during daylight hours and this is much appreciated by visiting ramblers.

There is disability access and plenty of parking.
